King Tutankhamun

The Pharaoh Tutankhamun

The most famous pharaoh of Egypt today is, without doubt, Tutankhamun. King boy died in his late teens and remained at rest in the valley of the kings of Egypt for over 3300 years.

All that changed in November 1922, when Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered by British Egyptologist Howard Carter who was excavating on behalf of his patron, Lord Carnarvon. His tomb almost escaped discovery and could have been discovered to date.

Carter had been searching for the tomb of a number of years and Carnarvon had decided that the time and money had been spent with little return.
